The Clinical HIV Research Unit (CHRU) operates across four sites in South Africa, located in the Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces. It is home to a multi-disciplinary team which is making a significant scientific contribution to local and international efforts to combat HIV, TB and HIV-associated cancers.
South Africa is at the epicentre of the HIV and tuberculosis (TB) epidemics. The Clinical HIV Research Unit (CHRU) runs clinical trials undertaking clinical research to prevent, treat and manage HIV/AIDS, TB and associated diseases. It is a division of the Wits Health Consortium, a wholly owned company of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) located in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is affiliated to the Department of Internal Medicine at Wits. Our mission is to deliver excellence and quality in clinical research.
