Clinical Trials – TB

The Clinical HIV Research Unit’s clinical research sites at Helen Joseph Hospital and King DinuZulu Hospital are participating in a ground-breaking study – TB PRACTECAL – to find short, tolerable and effective treatments for people with drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB)

We joined sites from Belarus and Uzbekistan in this cutting-edge phase II/III clinical research project. Sponsored by Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), the trial is being overseen by a Data and Safety Monitoring Board as part of a strong governance structure to ensure that the highest patient safety, scientific and ethical standards are met. The study also incorporates community engagement.
