Recruitment and retention of clinical trial participants are paramount to the success of clinical trials. The safety and rights of our clinical trial participants are central to our clinical studies which comply with ethical standards and regulations.
CHRU prides itself on an average participant retention rate of 95%.

The Recruitment and Retention team works together with CHRUs’ Community Advisory Board to address misconceptions about clinical studies, stigma, psychosocial issues and adherence challenges.

Data management

Data integrity is a cornerstone of CHRU’s clinical trials. Attention to detail by our experienced data management team has continually led to outstanding data management reports, with a 99% average data quality rate.

Governance

Through the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Witwatersrand, the Wits Health Consortium (WHC) provides the governance and legal framework for the Clinical HIV Research Unit (CHRU).

Women’s Cancer Prevention Research

The Clinical HIV Research Unit’s Women’s Cancer Prevention Research Department focuses on improving cervical cancer screening
