Dr Thandi Dlamini-Miti
Dr Dlamini-Miti is the Principal Investigator leading CHRU’s Isango Lethemba TB Research Unit in Gqeberha. She is an infectious diseases clinician and clinical epidemiologist who is passionate about the provision of the best evidence-based disease prevention and care interventions and ensuring that South Africans have access to these interventions. Dlamini-Miti has worked for 25 years in HIV/TB medicine, including 18 years researching HIV, TB, and other infectious diseases. She has made strides in TB medicine and technical assistance. She has also been involved in clinical and operational research around DR-TB and TB/HIV. She is passionate about the development of young clinicians and researchers. Before joining CHRU she was Senior Medical Technical Advisor for TB / Advanced Clinical Care at Africa’s foremost health NPO, Right to Care. She provided invaluable support managing its TB helpline, assisting clinicians in the management of TB/HIV, DR-TB and DS-TB. Dr Dlamini-Miti is a BEAT TB trial Steering Committee member. She has been a key player in South Africa’s TB programme and TB response, supporting the global goal to end TB by 2030. She is also involved in mentoring and teaching, has published widely and presented at numerous scientific meetings.
